Old MacDonald had a Farm

Today I pulled out one of Luke's Christmas stocking fillers (yes, I have started the Christmas shopping) and gave it to him early. I was just a little packet of farm animals. He has been watching 'Playschool on the Farm' so it only seemed appropriate :) He loves telling you what each animal is and what sound they make...

So I pulled out the lid of my Tupperware dip patter thing (its nice and big and round) and partly filled it with sand  so he could play 'farms'... We got some twigs to make fences and some leaves from a bush to make small trees...

We used a milk container and cut one side out to make a stable for the horses, which later turned into a garage for the tractor...

Luke said the pigs had to have a 'nigh night' and they had to lie down :) The sheep had to eat the leaves from the trees too...

Later we got some small containers and filled them with water for water troths... That's when it started to get messy and we moved the farm outside!  We got out some tractors and cars to also go on the farm... you could do so much if you really want to be creative! But that was enough for us today... maybe next time we could make proper little fences and a farm house and maybe Mr and Mrs MacDonald!

A really great play ideas for the kids! Give it a go... they will love it!
