Dinner Party.

Its always nice to have a dinner party... but it does get harder to do those nice spontaneous dinner parties with a 2 year old running around! We use to do them quite often, at least twice a week! Now once a fortnight is about our limit... hopefully that increases as we make new friends in this new city. Yes, they are a little more organized and planned, we have to fit in with the city folk :) Everything is planned a week, 2 weeks or a month in advance... gone is the Gero life of doing the spontaneous call at 5pm, asking 'the crew' over for dinner and feeding the 5000 :) I love it!

I got a spotlight voucher from the in-laws for my birthday, so I went shopping today! :) The material and  fabrics were tempting me, however I over-came temptation (I've made a rule for myself that I have to use what I have got first) and got some 'things' I need! I got this gorgeous square tablecloth (they are hard to find), this beautiful table runner which matches my dinner set, and the stunning glass vase in the middle...and still have money left over to spend!! WOOHOO!! Bargain!

It was a lovely evening with great friends, good food, tasty wine (or so they say), belly laughs and 2 cheeky kids running around having a blast... I cant go as long as what we use too... looking forward to curling up in bed by 9:30 but Im now at the point where I don't fight it anymore. Its just a stage in my life, and when the kids get a bit older, I have no broken sleep, or ridiculously early mornings, the parties will last longer and the energy will return!

But come on all you mum's and dad's you can do a dinner party a fortnight! Put out the 'good' tablecloth and bring out the 'good' dinner set and even the 'good' crystal glasses! Dim the lights, light the candles, turn the TV off and turn on the soft soothing music. Cook up a storm, invite some great friends over, laugh and enjoy a night together, even if you are waving them out the door by 8! We only live once! So start pulling out all the 'special' things you have stored away for a 'special' occasion and create one! You wont regret it!

Have a beautiful dinner party! :)
