This BIG wall is in our dining room and I stare at it when I'm in the kitchen,
First I outlined the area I was thinking I would paint with a lead pencil and showed Husband to get the thumbs up! After his approval I got straight to work...
Squint and you can see my pencil line!
Started with the outline first... (the ironing board make the perfect paint stand lol)
Then filled it in...waited 2 hours and then did it all again!
I borrowed my cousin-in-law's (if that's such a thing) drop-saw... then went right to the back of my brain where I stored all those memories of what I did in woodwork at school all those years ago... and got cutting! Don't worry Mr Francis I wore all my protective gear... then prayed to God I wouldn't cut my finger off....LOL...no seriously, I did. I had forgotten how flippin LOUD they get...(opps I didn't wear ear muffs!) so that in itself frighten the crap out of me!
Anyhow did my measuring and cutting and made a frame... yes ok, I admit I did surprise myself. I kinda thought it wouldn't run THAT smoothly...contemplated screwing it to the wall... or should I liquid nailing it to the wall??... so called a friend of mine for his advice (LOL). Liquid nails it was because the frame wasn't weight bearing and it would be easy (so some degree) to remove it without it pulling out the plaster (as screws would do...and the you have to patch...sand...blah blah blah) to get it back to its original state...(as if I will EVER want that anyway!)
Quick lick of paint and 'bob's your uncle' (sorry, to any un-Australian reading this that means 'All done right')
Luke was extremely happy to have a play on it... it was tit for tat cause I had to borrow his 'mega' chalk to christen it!
What do you think? Cool ay!?
I'm so happy with how its turned out!
...oh yes... don't you just LOVE my new dining table and chairs!? Yep, me too.
This is what we had previously, which is now our outdoor setting (residing out of the deck)...
Hello new dining table and chairs!
(I actually ordered this in August last year and finally received it in January of this year!)
Made from beautiful Tasmanian Oak!
...with short term IKEA chairs...well at least for the next 5 years... because with little sticky, dirty hands, they need to wipe-able!
She (the table) has the most beautiful curves! (hence she - the table- is a woman!) LOL!
Stop crying Kate and go buy yourself one! I know you want too! LOL!!!
P.S. Kate and Kirsten - YOU NEED (like really need) to join PINTEREST and I know your computer illiterate (KATE) so ask you sister! You will love it!! xx
