I know I promised a house plan... its coming!
Christmas has come and gone, and today its time to put Christmas away.
The house is a little out of control with people staying for the last 15 days... us being away on holidays for a week... its messy, unorganised, bits everywhere...So yesterday I started with the kids playroom.
I went through every toy! A bag for the bin, a bag for donations and a bag for friends whose kids will use the unplayed with toys. Then rearranged our play room to keep it new, fresh and inviting for the boys.
I love changing rooms around.
They say 'change is as good as a holiday' (don't think so, I love a good holiday!) but it can bring a refreshing to a home!
I know my kids love it when I change their rooms around. They get excited and a renewed energy for that area.
I bought some new fabric boxes at IKEA for a corner.
Added some labels and filled them appropriately.
Ben cant read yet, so I make sure I draw a little picture on each label so he knows whats inside and where to put the toys away.
I don't have a laminator but I contacted the labels to make them durable and water proof :)
You can find contact at your local supermarket in the stationary section.
I downloaded these blue labels from HERE, which I just found on Pinterest. I just printed them off, cut them out, and contacted them. EASY!
I did up this kitchenette a couple of years ago - if you missed it you can see it HERE
The boys still love playing with it daily.
My tips on organising a playroom
1. Sort by activity - All the Lego in one container - All the farm animals in another container etc.
2. Have a place for everything - every little thing.
3. Label Label Label - It will make life easier for you, your kids and your visitors!
4. Comfort and style - A comfortable mat to sit on or a table and chairs to draw at - they have to love their area.
5. Clean up system - Our rule of thumb is 1 box each out at a time... however they are kids and somedays are crazy! However at the end of each day the playroom is packed away, ready for tomorrows creations.
I know the playroom will never stay this tidy... but I will enjoy looking at it until the boys wake in the morning to find their new organised and clean space to play!
